The research essay will be about 1,500-2,000 words in length, written on a topic corresponding to oneof the primary documents from your textbook.To choose a topic for yourresearch paper, use one of the primary documents from your textbook starting with Competing Viewpoints: The Factory System, Science, and Morality in Chapter 19 on page 510as the earliest document (see the table of contents on pages XVIII-XIXinJoshuaCole and Carol Symes, Western Civilizations, vol. 2. Norton &Company, 2017.You will develop a research questionthat youwant answered (later thesis statement) and find appropriate historical studies in the library toprovide sufficient evidence.
