“The Beauties” is one of the Chekhov stories adapted into “Once Upon a Time in Anatolia”. What changes were made to the story and cinematic choices made in the film in order to adapt a highly literary story into a highly visual film? Did the cinematic choices in how the story was adapted preserve the basic elements of the Chekhov story? Or does it function entirely differently as a story and in the film? Focus on particular details in the film and in the story to make your case effectively. What philosophical lessons can we learn by thinking through this example?
